Along comes my very hands-on Jacob and his fascination with sharks, and I'm now over my resistance to lapbooking, with many thanks to my friend at As We Walk blog--see the link in the right sidebar. (Sorry, can't link to her in the post because Typepad has just released a new Compose Editor and it won't let me create links yet.)
My friend convinced me with some great looking lapbooks she and her children had made, and I decided to give it a try--the safe way.
The safe way was to order the Sharks Project Pack from In the Hands of a Child. (Again, I can't provide a direct link.) That might seem like the fast-food version of lapbooking, but for this Mama, it'll do as a start.
See? It comes with ready to assemble pieces, so now we're on our way:
Maybe after we've created this shark lapbook, I'll feel comfortable and creative enough to venture out on my own, free from the need for ready to assemble pieces.
Or maybe not. All that matters is I've finally begun. And Jacob likes that.
