Welcome!

  • We're a home educating family of six living in Maryland. Our style is Charlotte Mason and we love both the Ambleside and Sonlight curriculums, but we frequently wander from the main path to explore "rabbit trails." Here we share our days: home learning, living books, nature discoveries, and life with children.

Charlotte Mason:

  • "We allow no separation to grow up between the intellectual and 'spiritual' life of children, but teach them that the Divine Spirit has constant access to their spirits, and is their Continual Helper in all the interests, duties and joys of life." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Amen... excellent post!! That looks like my family's favorite kind of day. It really makes a difference when mom has the kind of attitude and "presence" that she wants her family to have.

So good to have you back :) Looks like a delightful day!

Ooof! I'm right there with you regarding the need for self-dicipline to get out there and do things!

I found this post so inspiring, Kathy! I was even inspired by the *bought* chocolate cake. :-) Too often I wait for the perfect opportunity. Are my chores caught up? Do I have a home-baked goodie to take along? Have we done all the other things on our "school" list? And so it goes...
This year, I have actually scheduled such outings in a regular time slot, knowing that, as you remind me, these are the memory-making moments that I don't want to miss. I am hoping to have the resolve to follow through with my plans.

I second (or third) that Amen! This was a great inspiration for me because you are so right about making memories too. What a great idea! Now if only the weather would cooperate soon :/

Beautiful photos, beautiful children, beautiful day! Thanks for sharing. I'm so glad you're "back" to blogging! I haven't forgotten our phone call appointment and will be on it soon. Blessings!
