Welcome!

  • We're a home educating family of six living in Maryland. Our style is Charlotte Mason and we love both the Ambleside and Sonlight curriculums, but we frequently wander from the main path to explore "rabbit trails." Here we share our days: home learning, living books, nature discoveries, and life with children.

Charlotte Mason:

  • "We allow no separation to grow up between the intellectual and 'spiritual' life of children, but teach them that the Divine Spirit has constant access to their spirits, and is their Continual Helper in all the interests, duties and joys of life." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That's on our list for the spring, too. Glad to see it's worth the visit.

I love hearing about your outings! We live in Beltsville, so not only am I inspired, I can actually experience many of the things you share with my own kids. Thanks so much.

Miss Rumphius is one of our favourite books too - your Victorian Palm house looks familiar to us. We're about to plan a trip to Kew kew.org but the palm house is at: http://apps.kew.org/trees/?page_id=172

Always so much to see! If you ever get to DC the National Botanical Gardens are wonderful too.

How lovely, and what a beautiful day!

Every time I stop by your post I learn something new!

Your trip looks like it was an amazing time!

We have sorely neglected time for art so i am planning to use spring break for art and music. I think I am going to go get some drawing pads and go to a garden for some drawing!

Don't ya just love Miss Rumphius...such a great motto for kids to have. Looks like you guys had a great day. I'll put it on "daytrip" possibilities.

I love that you brought sketch books. Great idea!
