Last weekend we were thrilled to experience an unusual hailstorm. The storm began as a very strong thunderstorm, but within a few minutes we were pummeled with nearly golf ball-sized chunks of ice:
Look at the strange shape (sorry for the blurry quality; I was standing outside in the hail when I snapped the photo):
The children ran around in the hail at first, but when the chunks of ice got bigger they were somewhat intimidated and went in to watch from the front door:
When it slowed down, we ran outside to gather up hail for the freezer. Of course, this has led to many, many questions about weather and hail in particular, and I'm just getting around to gathering in some books and videos and to answer all the questions.

Very cool!

That's NUTS! We had some small hail yesterday. But that is crazy-and I don't even think we had any at all on that day.
